Although originally a TDMA carrier in most areas, the company is

company's Chicago coverage is the result of the recent acquisition
of PrimeCo in that market.

Since its founding in 1983, U.S. Cellular has grown to provide wireless service
to more than 4.3 million customers in 150 markets throughout 26

U.S. Cellular provides wireless service to several major

The company invests millions of
dollars annually in technological enhancements to improve its networks.
Recently, the company began converting its network to CDMA 1XRTT digital
technology. This technology conversion, which will enhance the company’s network
by adding more voice capacity, high-speed data products and features, and
expanded coverage areas, is scheduled for completion in 2004. U.S. Cellular
continually improves its coverage and call quality by building cellular sites.
In 2003, the company plans to build more than 550 cellular sites across the
country.
In addition to being a leader in the wireless industry, U.S.
Cellular is committed to serving as a responsible corporate citizen throughout
its communities. Through its monetary contributions, donated telecommunication services, community relations
programs and associate volunteer activities, U.S. Cellular has
established a strong community presence across the nation and has touched the
lives of many, including the homeless, elementary school children and victims of
domestic violence.
