ALLTEL is a customer-focused communications company with more than 12 million customers and nearly $8 billion in annual revenues. ALLTEL provides wireless, local telephone, long-distance, Internet and high-speed data services to residential and business customers in 26 states.

Wireless phones are good for several different reasons, and now one company is using them to help with domestic violence. The Alltel Wireless phone company in Hinesville donated 15 phones and airtime to the Tri-County Protective Agency and the Victim Advocacy Group. It's part of the "Call to Protect" program, a nationwide program that donates phones to victims of domestic violence.

"Those phones have been issued to several of my clients and they have been instrumental in allowing them to seek law enforcement intervention in emergency situations," said victim advocacy coordinator Richard Wazeter.

The donated phones are pre-programmed to dial 911 and other local law enforcement numbers during emergency situations.
