Virgin Mobile USA and the Universal Music Group are once
again working together to bring superphonic ringtones to
mobile subscribers. The latest: The carrier inked a second
exclusive ringtone deal with the music company.
Today, the companies announced another similar deal that
will give the carrier's customers exclusive access to
real-music ringtones from G Unit's Lloyd Banks and the Young
Buck, two rap artists, for the next three months.
In June, the two companies signed an exclusive 3-month
deal that gave Virgin Mobile USA subscribers access to
wireless music content from Universal Music Group's
"D12 World" -- essentially giving Virgin Mobile
subscribers "first dibs" on downloadable
superphonic ringtones from Detroit's Dirty Dozen (known as
D12), which includes hip-hop star Eminem.
To get the word out about the ringtones to its young
customer base, Virgin Mobile USA has launched an ad
campaign, in conjunction with the Lloyd Banks' "On
Fire" song, on MTV, MTV2 and the hip-hop stations in 15
major markets.
